SHEIN Exchange Is To Launch In Europe

SHEIN has announced the launch of the extension of its SHEIN Exchange resale platform in Europe and the UK. The first region to gain access to the platform is France, followed by the UK and Gemany.

The rollout of the SHEIN Exchange platform in Europe and the UK follows the launch of the resale platform in the U.S in October 2022. Since its launch, the platform has continued to attract new users and listings – in 2023, over 4.2 million new users signed up to join the SHEIN Exchange platform in the U.S, with over 115,000 pre-owned items listed for sale by over 95,000 unique sellers.

The program is part of Shein’s larger commitment to address the ongoing issues of textile waste and build a more circular fashion industry in the face of criticism around its manufacturing processes and role in the fast fashion sector.

Founded in 2012 in China and now based in Singapore, Shein has rapidly conquered the global fast fashion market, based on the rapid renewal of collections at very low prices, and sells only online, targeting a largely young clientele.

Coincidentally, the French National Assembly adopted a “Fast Fashion” bill in March to make these products less attractive and thus limit the environmental impact of production, which it considers to be excessive and in part using toxic chemicals.
