All department stores of the KaDeWe Group are to be retained. “The future owner has informed us that the lease negotiations for the Alsterhaus and Oberpollinger have been successfully concluded,” the management of the KaDeWe Group informed employees in a letter sent to Reuters on Friday. This represents a further milestone for the company. However, the future operator still has to let 100 employees go, including 70 administrative employees.
Both the Oberpollinger and the Alsterhaus in Hamburg became part of Signa’s insolvency estate. The Central Group therefore negotiated lower rents with the insolvency administrator. This was not necessary for the KaDeWe in Berlin. According to the Senate, Central Group took over the building itself in April for one billion euros.
