The company has reportedly already informed the tenants that the stores will soon be able to open their doors. A more precise date has also been declared, as tenants are said to have been informed of the new opening date of April 8.
Previously, URW announced that the retail opening of Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier will be postponed until late Q1-2025. The delay from the already postponed opening date of October 17, 2024 allowed for additional time necessary to complete the commissioning phase of the project. This relates primarily to operational elements such as the fire and life safety systems and other Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
According to offical estimates, the delayed retail opening has resulted in an estimated €100 Mn of additional costs, mainly relating to operating the construction site for a longer period and tenant compensation.
The Überseequartier offers visitors and guests around 170 stores, 40 restaurants, three hotels and 520 apartments in HafenCity, while providing approximatley 8,000 jobs.
