Petra Scharner-Wolff Is The New CEO of Otto Group

Petra Scharner-Wolff, former Group Board Member for Finance, Controlling and Human Resources, has been appointed as the new CEO of (online-)retailer Otto Group.

With effect from March 1, 2025, she has taken over the chairmanship of the Executive Board from Alexander Birken, who is leaving the board after more than eight years as CEO and taking over the chairmanship of the Otto Group Supervisory Board from Dr. Michael Otto. Petra Scharner-Wolff’s successor and new CFO of the Otto Group is Katy Roewer, previously Head of Service, Human Resources and Finance at OTTO.

Petra Scharner-Wolff has been a member of the Otto Group Executive Board since June 1, 2015. After completing her studies, the business graduate initially worked as a management consultant at the Nymphenburg Group in Munich from 1995, before moving to Controlling at the Otto Group in Hamburg in 1999. From 2002, Petra Scharner-Wolff was responsible for the controlling of all Group companies worldwide as Director of Group Controlling Investments. In 2012, Scharner-Wolff took on the position of OTTO divisional board member. She was responsible for Human Resources, Controlling and IT before being appointed to the Group Management Board in 2015.

Otto Group is a globally active retail and services group with around 38,500 employees in 30 key business groups, primarily in the three economic areas of Germany, the rest of Europe and the USA. Its business activities cover Online Platforms, Brand Concepts, Retailers, Services and Financial Services segments. In the 2023/24 financial year (February 29), the Otto Group generated a revenue of 15 billion euros. With online revenue of almost 10.8 billion euros (financial year 2023/24), it is one of the world’s largest online retailers.
