In the cities of Constance, Duisburg, Freiburg, Trier and Kassel as well as other locations, Decathlon will successively move into spaces of between 1,500 and 3,500 sq m from July 2025 to present its sports range. These will be managed by Decathlon employees. Decathlon expects 25 to 75 teammates per location.
“This pioneering cooperation is a milestone for both companies. By taking over the space in central city center locations, we will be able to reach our customers even better in the future and offer them an attractive shopping experience. Together with GALERIA, we will set new standards in retail,” says Stefan Kaiser, Director Real Estate Decathlon Germany.
The collaboration between GALERIA and Decathlon has the overarching goal of promoting enthusiasm for sports locally and offering customers a diverse shopping experience by strengthening and expanding GALERIA’s sports range through Decathlon. Decathlon, on the other hand, will be able to expand its presence in attractive and fast-growing cities and address new customer groups through this strategic collaboration.
“We are extremely pleased about this groundbreaking cooperation, which represents a further milestone on our strategic course of expanding our product range through targeted partnerships and thus also inspiring new target groups for GALERIA. With Decathlon, we are bringing a leading expert in sporting goods into our store to round off our own sports range, thus creating an offering at GALERIA that is perfectly tailored to the needs and expectations of our customers,” adds Alexa Deters, Chief Commercial Officer GALERIA.
Following the first successful tests, Decathlon is planning to open further stores in GALERIA stores and is thus taking a significant step in its ambitious expansion strategy.
The first opening as a result of this cooperation is planned for the beginning of August in Constance. Customers can expect a varied product range on a sales area of around 1,500 sq m. Further Decathlon stores are planned for the end of 2025 in Trier, Kassel and Duisburg.
