Potsdamer Platz Arkaden | Berlin, Germany
Currently, ECE and Brookfield Properties Germany, Asset Manager of Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, are doing an extensive repositioning and modernization project of Potsdamer Platz Shopping Arkaden. The repositioning focuses on a new concept with six different themed areas, a modern architectural design with two-storey and three-storey facades, a market hall with quality dining options, and a tenant and retail mix with new concepts including premium retailers. The refurbishment started in 2019 and will be completed by 2021. ECE has been responsible for the management and leasing of the mall since it was opened in 1998 and took over the planning and design, the project management, the re-leasing of the retail spaces, and the rebranding. Potsdamer Platz Arkaden, in the heart of the German capital right, is the destination of approximately ten million visitors from Germany, Europe and the whole world. On three storeys, the glass-roofed street offers many options of shopping and culinary delights. As part of the prestigious Potsdamer Platz, the center benefits from the attraction of Berlin’s historical background as well as the modern downtown filled with museums, cinemas and musical theaters.
Cherrywood Town Centre | Dublin, Ireland
Located at the heart of Ireland’s largest sustainable urban center development, Cherrywood Town Centre will be developed as a retail-led streets & squares precinct with a considered balance of mixed-uses, convenience, place, community and social connections – day and night. The overall Cherrywood urban development that surrounds the retail scheme will eventually comprise 9,500+ new residences with a future population of 25,000+ people, 4 light rail stations, 6 new schools, 3 new parks with the equivalent size of 91 football fields, an active public realm, as well as an abundance of next generation workspace. Cherrywood Town Centre will be developed to meet the evolving preferences of retail customers and the broader community, with a retail mix with more than 100 stores, amenities and services with strong emphasis and focus on customers, experience, and social connections. The opening is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022.
Towarowa 22 | Warsaw, Poland
The architectural studio BIG Architects is currently designing city quarter Towarowa 22 in the Polish capital. The design of Towarowa 22 restores the pedestrian streets of historic Warsaw, with apartments, shops, workplaces, cafes and a park being the heart of this place. Towarowa 22 will also be a cultural center. One of Warsaw’s theaters is going to be here, as well as the only festival cinema in Poland, designed for movie premieres as well as other big cultural events. The new Towarowa 22’s central part will be the restored Kazimierz Wielki square. Its highlight will be the renovated pavilion of Dom Słowa Polskiego Printing House with characteristic skylights and spiral staircases, which are an example of the modernist architecture of the 1950s. Buildings of various heights and functions will be built around the square. The project co-owners are the companies EPP and Echo Investment.
Mega Ekaterinburg | Ekaterinburg, Russia
Ingka Centers Russia owns, develops, and manages a chain of major malls throughout Russia, including Mega Ekaterinburg in the middle of the Ural. The shopping center is just renovated comfortable meeting place that provides opportunities to create, socialize and express, where guests can take all benefits of new way of shopping. Mega Ekaterinburg provides customers with a wide and affordable offer, carefully selected F&B options, indoor and outdoor facilities for children, edutainment, fashion, sport and grocery retail categories. Bordeaux Saint-Jean |Bordeaux, France
Bordeaux has become an interesting city. The arrival of the high-speed train line connecting Bordeaux to Paris in two hours has made the city even more interesting. Initiated by Apsys in collaboration with the public development agency Bordeaux Euratlantique, the Bordeaux Saint-Jean aims to create a new urban ideal in the strategic district of Saint-Jean. Designed by Maison Edouard François, the architecture of the project is rooted in urban haute couture. It makes a powerful urban gesture: the creation of a meridian line connecting the train station and the Garonne river. On either side of this meridian is a new, ultra-urban ecosystem composed of several blocks, small in scale, sustainable and completely integrated into the city. The 88,000 sq m, varied Bordeaux Saint-Jean programme brings together different functions – shopping in 110 stores, living, working, sharing – and anticipates new urban uses in order to offer a new way of city life, combining hybridisation, mobile working. A place where people meet, share and intermingle. The opening is scheduled for 2023.
intu Costa del Sol | Torremolinos, Spain
intu Costa del Sol will be a global resort, combining jaw-dropping experiences in an environment that provides hospitality, leisure and retail offers. Located in Torremolinos, Malaga, the project brings together visionary architects and designers to deliver a new kind of retail destination that will inspire when it opens in 2023. This new international scheme will include the best in retail, more than 20 different leisure activities, two hotels, a wide range of F&B options, a beach club, a 5000-person concert venue and much more. The resort will comprise of eight districts that will be curated to provide something for everyone. With an €800m investment, it will become a place for brands to offer visitors an opportunity to experience the most innovative retail offers available. The shopping resort will meet, and where possible exceed, all the requirements of ISO 14001 and IS0 50001, and other internationally recognized standards such as BREEAM.
Edinburgh St. James | Edinburgh, Scotland
Currently, Edinburgh St James is the city’s largest development in a generation. A modern 158,000 sq m masterplan in urban placemaking, it is one of the UK’s largest current regeneration projects. Occupying a prime location at the heart of the city heart, this mixed-use destination offers 79,000 sq m of retail space, including John Lewis, Zara, Mango, Next and Boots, complemented by living, leisure, and entertainment at W Edinburgh, a Roomzzz Aparthotel, 152 apartments by Native Land, 30 restaurants and places to eat, including a food hall, and a five-screen Everyman cinema. Opening in October 2020, Edinburgh St James is forecast to welcome in excess of 20 million visitors a year – the highest footfall of any retail and leisure destination in Scotland. In response, the city center’s prime pitch is already extending towards it, an acknowledgment of the impact this new destination will have on the Scottish capital.
Val Saint Lambert | Seraing, Belgium
Val Saint Lambert will be operated as an amusement park with 42,000 sq m for retail, of which more than 50% are in old 19th century industrial buildings, 19,000 sq m of indoor space and 40 hectares dedicated to an outdoor leisure park, a museum, and seminar center, as well as more than 9,500 sq m of public places for entertainment. Details regarding the project’s retail section: The shops are mostly dedicated to an atypical merchandising mix, like 8,000 sq m for pop-up stores, 3.500 sq m for designer outlets, 3,000 sq m for F&B etc. The carbon footprint and energy costs are becoming a major issue in future developments. Therefore, Val Saint Lambert Invest and its partner John Cockerill have decided to be the first in Europe to develop an energy plant that will be used exclusively for this project. The opening of Val Saint Lambert is scheduled for the first quarter of 2022.
TSX Broadway | New York, USA
L&L Holding Company, in partnership with Maefield Development, Fortress Investment Group and the Nederlander Organization, is creating a full-building promotional platform in the heart of Times Square, TSX Broadway. The 46-storey tower includes an outdoor stage suspended 9 meter above Times Square, the largest, 178-meter tall, and technological advanced signage and lighting package available, 11 floors of retail/experiential space, and a 669-key luxury hotel. The landmarked Palace Theatre will be elevated 9 meters before undergoing a $50 million renovation and modernization. TSX Broadway was imagined as the answer to the trends of how to connect with customers in the digital age. With fully-integrated retail, entertainment, hospitality, and food and beverage offerings, it provides the venue for every kind of experience, performance or interaction. The opening is scheduled for 2022.
