Movement at Potsdamer Platz Arkaden in Berlin

Refurbishment works have begun, local suppliers remain unchanged. The arcade is scheduled to reopen in two years.

The comprehensive construction works at the 46,000-sq m Potsdamer Platz Arkaden in Berlin have begun. After the refurbishment process, which is expected to take two years, the arcade will reopen with an entirely new concept. The tenant mix of the 90 planned shops will focus on city and cultural tourists, office workers on Potsdamer Platz, and Berlin residents. A spaciously designed food area with fresh, regional food and local providers is also planned.

“I am glad that the works have begun. In the coming two years, we want to create a contemporary urban location at Potsdamer Platz where city tourists, theatergoers, office workers as well as residents of Berlin can enjoy themselves,” says Karl L. Wambach, Executive Vice President Europe of Brookfield Properties, Asset Manager of Potsdamer Platz. Brookfield Properties and ECE are jointly responsible for the management, leasing, and revitalization works at Potsdamer Platz Arkaden. The general contractor Ed. Züblin AG was awarded the contract for the construction works of this project.
