New Tokmanni to be opened in REDI shopping centre in Kalasatama, Helsinki

Tokmanni, Finland’s largest general discount retailer, will open a new store that offers a versatile and pleasant shopping experience in the REDI shopping centre in Kalasatama, Helsinki on October 15, 2020.

Careful precautions will be taken to ensure everyone’s safety. At the store opening, customers will enjoy plenty of opening day offers published next week. In addition, the first 1,000 paying customers will receive a token that entitles them to Tokmanni’s famous surprise bucket, which contains various product gifts. It will be possible to collect the bucket safely over the following week without having to queue.

Located on street level (1st floor) in the Sköne building of the shopping centre, the new Tokmanni represents the general discount retailer’s latest store concept, which emphasises pleasant and convenient shopping and offers a diverse product assortment.

The extensive assortment at the new Tokmanni will include beauty, health and wellbeing, interior decoration, cleaning, clothing, leisure, home electronics, home renovation and seasonal products as well as non-perishable foods at very low prices, in the true spirit of Tokmanni.

The pleasant and modern customer experience is enhanced by features such as spacious aisles, informative signage, energy-efficient LED lighting and well-defined areas for different product categories.

Customer service at the Tokmanni store in the REDI shopping centre will be provided by about 20 retail professionals under the leadership of Store Manager Jussi Lehtinen. The store will serve its customers with long opening hours: on weekdays from 8 am to 9 pm, on Saturdays from 8 am to 8 pm and on Sundays from 10 am to 7 pm.

As with all other Tokmanni locations, the store in the REDI shopping centre will serve as a pick-up point for products purchased from Tokmanni’s online store. With retail selling space of approximately 1,650 sq m, the store will also have a recycling point for small waste electrical and electronic equipment for customers.

In addition, at the end of the October, Tokmanni will launch a trial for express delivery of orders to customers in Kalasatama and selected neighbouring areas. Held as a campaign, the trial will allow customers to order products from Tokmanni’s online store with short delivery times. Tokmanni will announce more information on this trial soon on its website, as well as through other media.

Attractive and much anticipated store

Tokmanni considers the REDI shopping centre a very attractive store site, as it is located in the growing and densely built-up Kalasatama area, with good transport connections. The shopping centre’s varied retail and service offering and suitable distance to other Tokmanni stores also speak in favour of opening a new store there.

“Our new store in the developing Kalasatama area excellently complements our already extensive store network in Helsinki. The Tokmanni in the REDI shopping centre will increase the number of our stores in Helsinki to nine, with seven stores in the immediate vicinity of the metro line,” says Mathias Kivikoski, Tokmanni’s Sales and Marketing Director.

A Tokmanni store at the REDI shopping centre has been on the wish list of many customers according to Kivikoski.

“At Tokmanni we are also very pleased to have found retail premises at the REDI shopping centre that tick all our boxes. We firmly believe that Tokmanni’s varied assortment and affordable prices will generate more footfall at the shopping centre and attract plenty of interest in Kalasatama and its neighbouring areas.”

Safety first, also at the opening

Tokmanni will take special precautions to ensure a safe shopping experience at the opening of the store in the REDI shopping centre. The safety of the customers and employees will be ensured at the new Tokmanni with protective screens installed at checkouts and by offering customers hand sanitizer during their visit and reminding them to keep a safe distance with posters and announcements. Additionally, the personnel will be instructed to wear face masks. To avoid crowding during the opening, the number of customers inside the store at one time will be limited, if necessary.

The new store’s opening offers will be published next week and valid for four days, from Thursday to Sunday, 15–18 October 2020. To avoid queues, Tokmanni will distribute tokens for its famous surprise buckets to the first one thousand paying customers. The customers will be able to collect their surprise bucket, which contains product gifts, without having to queue, by presenting their token at the store over the following seven days. In addition to the product gifts, a EUR 100 Tokmanni gift voucher has been hidden in two of the buckets.
