Station Hill, the mixed-use masterplan project designed by CallisonRTKL (CRTKL) for LincolnMGT has been named among the best Future Places in the United Kingdom and a contender for this year’s Pineapple Awards.

Launched in 2019 by The Developer in partnership with the Design Council, The Pineapples awards are unique in seeking to celebrate great places, where people want to live, work, play, shop or learn. This year, that includes Station Hill, which has been shortlisted in the ‘Future Place’ category, which recognises projects in development that are successfully seeking to contribute to urban life, foster community, welcome visitors and attract tenants.

Located in the large town of Reading, to the west of London, Station Hill, will epitomise this with the transformational development on track to deliver a new rental community with 1,300 homes, a thriving hub for business with 625,000 sq. ft of office space, 95,000 sq. ft lifestyle-led leisure and retail and two acres of public realm.

The project design is being overseen by an international collective that sees CRTKL acting as the project masterplanner and architect for the residential buildings; Gensler as the architect for the commercial office buildings and LDA Design as landscape architects for the public realm.

“Crafted around life, CRTKL’s masterplan upholds the importance of place – by enhancing connection within the town, bringing communities together and offering vibrant, lifestyle led interactions. Working in close collaboration with our client, we are creating a memorable and inspiring backdrop to let the people become the colour and energy of the scheme,” said CRTKL Principal, John Badman.
