“We are particularly delighted to have won this prize. Because it shows that experience-oriented retail architecture and highly-efficient, sustainable building methods complement each other perfectly,” says ATP Lead Project Manager Philipp Pfister.
The timelessly modern and highly-functional architecture of ALEJA is a homage to the Slovenian capital: The interior space refers to the urban-poetic charm of the city center, while the language of the building envelope is inspired by Ljubljana’s heraldic animal. With its metallic and colored-glass diamond-shaped shingles, the building envelope recalls the skin of a dragon, while also meeting ambitious esthetic, lighting, and energy targets. The 6,200-m2 leisure, sport, and rooftop recreation zone and the flexibly usable forecourt with its pump track and trendy foodcourt offer a spectacular range of options and a high-quality experience for the public, while also giving useable space back to the city.
With its ICONIC AWARDS, the German Design Council has been honoring visionary architecture, innovative product design, and sustainable brand communication since 2013. In the year in which it was established, ATP was awarded the prize for the G3 Shopping Resort in Gerasdorf. Further “ATP icons” have followed in the shape of the Educational Center in Holzgau(2018), the HOFER ALPHA Retail Network in Eberstalzell (2019), and the IWC Manufacturing Center in Schaffhausen (2020).
The ICONIC AWARDS 2021 will be presented on 11th October in the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich.
