Currently, in Romania, there are already two commercial facilities developed by Scallier with a total leasable area of 11,200 sq m (in Focsani and Rosiorii de Vede), and three more are under construction and will be put into service in 2022. The total volume of existing and completed space at the end of this year will exceed 40,000 sq m GLA. All facilities in Romania will be BREEAM certified.
The retail park in Focsani was built next to the already existing Lidl store. Together, they create a complementary commercial offer, which meets the needs of both the residents of Focsani (a city with nearly 100,000 inhabitants) and residents of smaller nearby towns.
“We implement all facilities in locations where we can use the priority effect. Additionally, we have a strategy of implementing commercial facilities in line with the idea of sustainable development. This is part of our broader concept of building a business implementing good practices that minimize the impact on the environment. We do this through appropriate procedures related to the construction, the selection of high-quality, ecological materials, as well as specific methods of operation, using, among others, the services of local companies,” says Wojciech Jurga, Managing Partner at Scallier, responsible for the company’s development on the Romanian market.
The retail park in Focsani includes brands such as Sinsay, Pepco, KiK, CCC, Animax, Xpress, and Hervis. The facility in Focsani also has a selected gastronomic offer: The project includes Dabo Doner and Bun de Tot restaurants.
“For facilities built in Romania, the gastronomic and recreational functions are very important, as this is what Romanian consumers expect. That is why in our facilities we focus on restaurants and other points that offer the opportunity to spend more time,” emphasizes Adrian Aleman, Development Director at the Romanian branch of Scallier.
By the end of 2022, Scallier will commission facilities in Timisoara, Vaslui, and Turda with a total leasable area of approximately 30,000 sq m. Further retail facilities in smaller and medium-sized Romanian cities are as well under development.
