CHRISTINE HAGER CONFIRMED AS CHAIRWOMAN OF GCSP AND NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM CONFIRMED

The general meeting of the German Council of Shopping Places, GCSP, elected a new board today. Markus Trojansky, dm Managing Director, could not be re-elected after 12 years of honorary service as a board member in accordance with the statutes and was previously bid farewell with great thanks. The members re-elected Christine Hager, Sonae Sierra Germany, as chairwoman of the board and confirmed Harald Ortner, HBB, as a member of the board. Ulrich Schmitz, ECE, was also newly elected to the board.

“In the past four-year term of office, the board has successfully implemented changes, some of them far-reaching, to further professionalize the association. Since 2020, we are now on a new course and, together with the advisory board and the office, have carried out the renaming of the association from GCSC to GCSP, the introduction of a new logo after more than 20 years, or such as the complete restructuring, as well as the relocation of the office to Berlin. New conference formats such as the foundation of an ESG committee and the expansion of existing or new cooperations are only a few examples of the new orientation.

The German Council Congress in Presence, held in Berlin in September this year under the motto “SPACE”, was a big step towards normality for our industry and certainly the conference highlight of the year for a large number of participants. A great team comprising both the board and advisory board, together with the many volunteers and the dedicated office, is the foundation of and responsible for our success in these challenging times. I am very grateful for this.” stated Christine Hager on the occasion of her re-election.

Harald Ortner added: “I really enjoy working for the retail and commercial real estate industry and the results show that the effort is worthwhile. As an association, we are clearly on a growth course and want to attract not only more tenants, but also cities and municipalities in particular as members. For both, we have introduced an attractive fee structure and hope here for growth as well.”

Ulrich Schmitz, who has been elected to the board for the first time, has said, “After several years as an advisory board member of GCSP, I am very happy with the continued support and trust of the members in this election. As a newly elected board member, I will continue to push the topics of digitalization in real estate, ESG, and safety and security as major challenges of our industry with a special focus.”

Markus Trojansky declares in the general meeting to want to continue to actively support the GCSP. “I gladly accept the appointment as co-opted advisory board of the GCSP and feel very honored to be allowed to continue to shape the fate of my association as a representative of the retailers.”
