Then in November 2023, the world’s largest Zara store is scheduled to open in Rotterdam with an area of around 9000sq m, as confirmed by Óscar García-Maceiras, CEO of Inditex. In the new store is also planned a Zara cosmetics and home department. The increase in space also provides room for the growing role of online sales, such as click & collect services but also storage areas for returns of online orders. The new store design combines functional with digital aspects as in fitting rooms, self-check-out areas.
In addition to the news about the opening in the Netherlands, Inditex also presented the figures for the first fiscal year: with a record profit of over 2.5 billion euros, an increase of 40.1% compared to the same period in 2022. The Group’s top-selling brands, Zara & Zara Home, recorded a 13.1% increase in net sales (12.26 billion euros) in the period.
Óscar García-Maceiras attributed the record profit to the continuous commitment to creativity and quality of the company’s products coupled with enhanced customer experience and also strengthened measures regarding sustainability.
