Austrian supermarket Billa opens the first purely vegan shop in Vienna

The first Billa branch with a purely vegan range is being built in the Gerngross department store on Mariahilferstraße in Vienna.

According to media reports the new shop will have the name “Billa Pflanzilla”, which is a combination of the german word for plant “Pflanze” and the word Gorilla. The shop will only offer vegan, plant based products. In addition, goods will be available for sale that have not previously been available from Billa or Billa plus.

“Billa Pflanzilla” will be located in the Gerngross department store on Vienna’s Mariahilfer Strasse, which is one of Vienna’s most popular shopping streets. The opening is scheduled for September 8th. Billa is an Austrian supermarket chain that operates in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe. The chain is part of Germany’s REWE Group.
