The Capital Plaza, a mixed-use property owned by BIG CEE, announces the signing of Crowne Plaza Podgorica, as part of IHG Resorts & Hotels, one of the world’s leading companies in the global hotel industry. This will be the first Crowne Plaza hotel in Montenegro. In addition to voco Podgorica, Regent Porto Montenegro, and Iberostar Waves Herceg Novi, this will be IHG’s fourth hotel to open in Montenegro, further strengthening its presence in the Montenegrin market and joining three other properties in its development pipeline.
The 122-key hotel is situated within the Capital Plaza mixed-use development and surrounded by the regional headquarters of several banks and multinational companies including Deloitte, PWC and The World Bank. Other features include residential properties and luxurious commercial, retail and restaurant spaces, making it an ideal destination for locals and visitors alike. The Capital Plaza has significantly influenced Podgorica’s business district over the last decade, with its impressive office tower to lifestyle features, it has become a true ambassador for the country’s fast-paced development.
“It’s wonderful to sign Crowne Plaza Podgorica, which is an important moment for IHG as we continue to grow our presence across the Balkans. The hotel will fit seamlessly into the existing Capital Plaza development in the prime location of Podgorica and is a great example of our ability to sign and convert properties across our brand portfolio at speed. The popularity of conversion opportunities across Europe reflects the attractiveness of IHG’s brands and the value of our global enterprise – including our growing IHG One Rewards programme – amongst our owners, who are looking to capture the growing demand of travellers in top locations. We look forward to working alongside our trusted partners at BIG CEE to bring this project to fruition and welcome guests at Crowne Plaza Podgorica before the end of the year,” said Willemijn Geels, Vice President Development Europe for IHG Hotels & Resorts.
As part of IHG Hotels & Resorts global enterprise, the hotel will continue to attract a diverse range of visitors while adding value thanks to its extensive portfolio and its successful loyalty program, IHG One Rewards.
“We immensely believe in Podgorica and in the country, alongside The Capital Plaza, our portfolio includes the renowned BIG FASHION Podgorica, the largest and most developed shopping centre in the country, for which we are working on obtaining conditions for its long-awaited expansion. We are very proud and happy to add our hotel to the IHG Resorts & Hotels family, and we look forward to attracting numerous domestic and international hotel guests, while maintaining the strong guest satisfaction and overall successful hotel experience. BIG CEE will continue to make significant investments and expand its portfolio in the future, as well as develop services within existing properties,” said Lev Weiss, CEO of BIG CEE.
