Celine opens store in the Netherlands

The first store in the Netherlands is located at PC Hoofstraat 71 in Amsterdam.

In a brick building from the late 19th century, the store covers an area of around 230sq m spread over two floors. The interior design reflects the brand’s design codes. As with the luxury brand’s previous openings in Milan at the end of 2023 or recently in Tokyo, the brand’s corporate design was also implemented in Amsterdam with the special material and color concept: Black and white marble flooring was complemented by individual pieces of furniture such as tables and stools predominantly made of wood. Walls and ceilings brighten up the room in a clear, light shade of gray. There are glazed display cabinets on the walls and room dividers made of transparent glass strips provide interesting insights. A good mix of glossy and matt surfaces, hard and soft materials give the store that certain something. Like the entire store design, the furniture was designed by CELINE creative director Hedi Slimane.

CELINE is a company built on a clear value system: sincerity, agility and focus. The philosophy of the luxury brand is based on the outstanding quality of the individual pieces. New discoveries, such as the selection of refined materials, are also a focus, as are attention to detail and timeless modernity.

The brand was founded in 1945 by Céline Vipiana and her husband Richard – initially as a bespoke shoe store for children. In the 1960s, the first store was opened in Paris and the range was expanded to include women’s fashion and accessories. Global growth began a decade later with openings in New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo. Some well-known designers have left their mark on Celine, including Michael Kors and Phoebe Philo, who is regarded as one of the most influential designers of the 21st century. Hedi Slimane has been the creative director of the fashion house since 2018 and has also presented a men’s collection for the first time.
