Cisalfa Sport takes over SportScheck

The takeover is expected to be completed in June 2024, subject to approval by the antitrust authorities.

Cisalfa Sport is the largest sports retailer in Italy, operates over 150 stores and is itself part of the Intersport network in Europe. Last year, Cisalfa Sport took over all 50 Intersport Voswinkel stores and the company headquarters in Dortmund.
According to SportScheck insolvency administrator Axel W. Bierbach from law firm MHBK, the entire business operations will be taken over, the brand will be continued and the headquarters in Munich will be retained. The takeover will be handled as part of a restructuring via an insolvency plan, which is to be voted on at a creditors’ meeting at Munich Local Court at the end of April 2024.

SportScheck had to file for insolvency at the end of November 2023 due to the insolvency of its owner, Signa Holding. As a result, the Frasers Group withdrew from the planned takeover of the company.
“The last few weeks have been very intense, because we had the clear goal of being able to present a new owner with the opening of the insolvency proceedings,” says SportScheck Managing Director Matthias Rucker. “In Cisalfa, we have found a successful and long-term oriented family-owned sports retail company that can offer SportScheck the right strategic home and interesting growth opportunities.”
