The awards honored outstanding projects, companies and individuals in South-East Europe. Kaufland won in the Retailer of the Year category as a partner for new construction and revitalization in all retail locations. Since 2020, the company has opened almost 200 new locations, creating around 1.5 million square meters of retail and concession space, of which around a third is in Eastern Europe.
The award was a very welcome déjà vu. Firstly, Kaufland defended its title from the previous year with the award and secondly, the company had already won in the Supermarket Chain of the Year and Specialty Retailer of the Year categories at the 16th CEE Retail Awards in Warsaw in February, which EuropaProperty had also hosted. In addition, the Kaufland store in the Slovakian capital Bratislava, the largest timber store in the country, was named Retail Project Small of the Year when Central and Eastern Europe were the focus of the awards.
“We are very proud to win the SEE Retail Award for the second time in a row. These awards are an additional incentive for us to continue on our ambitious path as a footfall anchor for all retail locations. As one of Europe’s leading food retailers, we are a reliable international partner for the real estate industry, which can rely on our consistently high standards,” said Michael Hiese, Head of Central Divisions International.
