Consortium wants to take over Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof

As reported by “Handelsblatt”, a buyer has been found for the insolvent department store chain. A consortium consisting of the US investment company NRDC Equity Partners and the entrepreneur Bernd Beetz wants to take over the insolvent department store chain Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof.

Neither the spokesperson for the insolvency administrator Stefan Denkhaus nor a spokesperson for the company would comment on the matter when asked. The administrator of Galeria had recently held final negotiations with two bidders regarding the sale.

According to the report, Stefan Denkhaus had already informed the creditors’ committee on Monday that NRDC and Beetz were to be awarded the contract. The contracts are to be signed on Tuesday. Denkhaus plans to present the buyer to the public on Wednesday. The creditors’ meeting will make the final decision on the takeover in May.
