Continuing Success For Kaufland In Romania With The Opening Of Its 190th Store

Fuelled by sustainable measures, Kaufland continues to expand its presence in Romania by reaching 190 stores nationwide after the opening of its two most recent locations in Moșnița Noua and Baia Mare.

Kaufland Romania continues its expansion with the opening of its store in Moșnița Nouă, bringing its total to 189 units nationwide. The new hypermarket, on a sale space of more than 2,200 sq m (total space of 4,100 sq m), offers a modern shopping experience with a variety of products and services and supports the local community by creating more than 60 jobs.

In Mosnita Nouă, Kaufland also presents its innovative recycling system, which rewards environmentally conscious behaviour. In the store’s parking lot providing over 185 parking spaces, customers will find a self-service double recycling vending machine where they can recycle packaging in exchange for extra-rebate vouchers.

The store offers access to an extensive range of products and has an assisted fresh produce display case over 16 meters long. It also includes a vegetable and fruit aisle, bakery, frozen food aisle, grocery, staples, sweets, beverages, non-food and grocery.

Simultaneously, Kaufland Romania marked the opening of its 190th store nationwide with the new location at Baia Mare. The hypermarket is built on an area of more than 5,700 sq m and has a sales area of 2,600 sq m.

The new Baia Mare store also makes a significant contribution to protecting the environment. Seedlings have been planted on 2,000 sq m in the parking area, one for every three parking spaces. As they grow, they will gradually transform the area into a green space with natural shade. Also, more than 1,000 sq m of photovoltaic panels are being installed on the store’s roof, representing an investment of around 300,000 euros. They are to generate green energy and reduce CO₂ emissions by more than 150 tons annually. Following the opening of the new unit, 70 new jobs were created locally.
