ECSP: Joanna Fisher has been elected as new Chairwoman

Joanna Fisher is ready to set the European agenda and priorities for the placemaking industry.

Joanna Fisher, CEO ECE Marketplaces and member of the ACROSS Advisory Board, has been elected as the new Chairwoman of European Council of Shopping Places (ECSP). “Retail Real Estate needs a strong voice in Europe – now more than ever”, states Fisher. Julien Bouyeron has also joined the Council as its new dedicated Secretary General.

Joanna Fisher is responsible for the entire shopping center business in the ECE Group, one of Europe’s leading shopping centre businesses. With a 50-year history, it has a portfolio of approximately 200 destinations across Germany and Europe. Julien Bouyeron joins the ECSP from the European DIY Retail Association, where he held the position of director of European Affairs. He has over 10 years of experience dedicated to EU-focused advocacy programmes.

The ECSP is the European association for retail and mixed-use destinations and provides a European voice for an industry that designs, creates, funds, develops, builds and maintains places anchored by retail across Europe. “I thank my predecessor Peter R. Wilhelm and I look forward to a good cooperation with our industry, our national associations and European politics”, says Fisher. Peter R. Wilhelm was ECSP chairman since 2019.

Commenting on these new appointments, Peter Wilhelm, the outgoing Chair, said: “Launching a new organisation in the middle of a pandemic was never going to be easy. However, I am proud of what has been achieved, delivering a diversified programme of activities from a standing start; from public affairs advocacy, a new awards programme, dedicated working groups and research, as well as public campaigns with members representing national associations and some of Europe’s largest retail property developers, investors, and managers. I am grateful for all the support we have had and wish continuous success to the new leadership team in the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
