On the site formerly occupied by a Bauhaus store and located directly at the center, a completely new, free-standing restaurant building with attractive outdoor terraces is being built, which will be operated by the successful pizza and pasta concept L’Osteria and for which the foundation stone was laid today. On the other hand, three new tenants – the specialist bicycle retailer B.O.C. and the experience concept JUMP House, as well as another indoor entertainment provider – will complement the Rhein Neckar Center’s offering. In addition, attractive new outdoor areas with green spaces and seating areas are being created as part of further development.
Completion of the redesigned areas and the opening of the new concepts is planned in stages for 2024. Deutsche EuroShop, as the owner of the Rhein Neckar Center, and the new tenants are investing a total of more than 10 million euros in the further development of the center and the expansion of the rental areas.
With the new tenants, ECE Marketplaces as the operator continues the addition of a new focal point in the sports and leisure sector to the Rhein Neckar Center: Already in the fall of 2021, a wind tunnel of indoor skydiving opened there, which has since attracted numerous visitors from the region and beyond and has significantly exceeded the expectations of the operator.
The Rhein Neckar Center, which opened in 1972 and has been operated by ECE since 1998, offers around 110 stores on a sales area of around 60,000 sq m and around 3,500 free parking spaces. Anchor tenants include Engelhorn Active Town, H&M, P&C, C&A, TK Maxx, Woolworth and an Aldi store. In addition, another leisure concept is already located there in the form of a Kinopolis multiplex cinema.
