The focus of the expansion is on city center locations, for which the company is looking for suitable rental space, revealed CEO Bart van den Nieuwenhof in a statement. The new openings allow for over 700 new jobs to be created. While only up to five stores are to close as part of this process, the majority will remain and continue to grow.
With around 300 stores just in Germany, and many others in Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands, eyes + more is currently the fastest growing eyewear chain in Europe. Also, the company’s growth plans show a stark contrast to the numerous store closures and insolvencies that are particularly hard on the German market.
In addition to eyes + more, Hans Anders (with 402 stores in the Netherlands and Belgium) and Direkt Optik (with 34 stores in Sweden) are all part of the parent company nexeye.
