Frankfurt Is To Get A Grandiose Food Hall

The Compass Group has been won as the operator of the Foodhall in the new FOUR Frankfurt city quarter. Food Affairs GmbH, a company of Compass Group Deutschland GmbH, intends to curate the approximately 3,000 sq m space according to international standards and develop it into one of Frankfurt’s top food addresses.

“The fact that we were able to win such a well-known and experienced company for this important use is a great success for us. The Compass Group will make the Foodhall an attraction in the new city quarter. Frankfurt will be able to compete with cities such as London, Lisbon or Amsterdam, where such curated concepts already exist. This will be a benefit not only for the tenants of FOUR, but for everyone in Frankfurt,” says Jens Hausmann, Managing Partner of Groß & Partner.

Best-practice concepts integrated

Several restaurants will be set up in FOUR, offering a wide range of dishes from sushi, tacos and burgers to fine dining. Various bars, a delivery service and a cooking school are also planned. “To position the Foodhall as an innovative, central food destination in the Rhine-Main region, the integration of national or international best-practice concepts is just as fundamental as the integration of local heroes. FOUR Frankfurt will set completely new standards and provide an urban and authentic gastronomic experience,” says Christian Funk, CEO of Compass Group Deutschland GmbH.

Innovations in gastronomy

The Compass Group sees itself as a driver of innovation in the industry. For the FOUR Frankfurt project, the company draws on the entire expertise of its international parent company and integrates best practice approaches from other European and overseas countries. In the field of urban lifestyle gastronomy, the Compass Group operates, among others, the Michelin-starred restaurant Maintower and the Café Chez Marie in the Marienturm on the Taunusanlage in Frankfurt.

Tender for design

An international tender has already been launched for the development of the interior design with the aim of engaging a renowned design office with experience in similar hospitality projects. The food hall should radiate urbanity and cosmopolitan flair at any time of day and for any occasion, while at the same time adapting to the modern design of FOUR. A name for the food hall has not yet been decided. Completion is planned for the second half of 2025.

“We have reached another milestone in the development and marketing of FOUR. The talks with the Compass Group were very focused from the outset and we were able to quickly develop a shared vision for the Foodhall concept. It now has the potential to become Frankfurt’s new food hotspot,” adds Jens Hausmann.
