This change in strategy comes after Galeria set out to reform its executive board, reports the German “Lebensmittelzeitung”.
Now, also officially confirmed by Lidl, the food retailer is to move into two of the remaining Berlin branches, and is developing customized store solutions for the Galeria locations. The space offers sufficient room for the extensive range of around 4,300 individual items.
Galeria hopes that Lidl will bring more footfall and also attract younger customers to the department stores. In addition, an Ikea furniture store pick-up station will be set up in the Hermannplatz store.
