Generational Change At CITYPARK Graz Starting May 1, 2024: Wolfgang Forstner Succeeds Waldemar Zelinka

After 20 very successful years, Center Manager Waldemar Zelinka is moving to an advisory role for CITYPARK Graz on May 1 before retiring at the end of 2025. He will be succeeded by his current deputy, Wolfgang Forstner, who has long been designated as his successor.

“Waldemar Zelinka has developed the hotel into a top destination over many years. Our family would like to thank him very much for this. We are delighted to continue to have him at our side as a consultant until his retirement in 2025,” says CITYPARK Managing Director Martin Poppmeier and is pleased “that we have found an excellent successor in Wolfgang Forstner, who brings a lot of experience from the retail sector and has already been on board with us for over a year.”

Waldemar Zelinka started his career at the SPAR branch in Graz and has been responsible for CITYPARK Graz since 2004.

Born in Upper Styria, Wolfgang Forstner worked in the banking sector for a few years while studying economics at the University of Applied Sciences in Graz before switching to the food retail, furniture and sports retail sectors as well as the shopping center business. From 2011 to 2012, he completed a Master’s course in General Management. The passionate sportsman has now been working at CITYPARK as Deputy Center Manager for over a year. In future, Forstner will be responsible for the entire day-to-day operations of CITYPARK and will be supported by SES – the shopping mall specialist of the SPAR Group.

In addition to Martin Poppmeier, Christina Poppmeier and Christoph Andexlinger (SES) will continue to serve on the CITYPARK management board.
