GERMAN DESIGN AWARD NOMINEE 2023: MK ILLUMINATION

As the first company in their industry branch, MK Illumination has been awarded for the German Design Award 2023 by the German Design Council.

The nominated work, the Malmö Unicorn positioned in the city of Malmö, Sweden is an interactive symbol MK Illumination has designed to reflect not only the inclusive nature of the city but also the uniqueness of its people. The handmade and detailed unicorn stands at a height of 6 meters. The statue possesses a mane and a tail, completely animated by glowing LED lights, as well as a glimmering heart providing a unique arrangement of colors.

As Germany’s leading authority on design and brands, the German Design Council was created by the German Parliament and is being sponsored by the German industry. The Council works to promote society’s awareness of design and supports companies on all matters relating to brand and design development. They achieve this by providing a forum for interdisciplinary, independent, and international knowledge transfer.
