Hyatt announces plans as part of the mixed-use project MAHÜ 10-18

Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced that a subsidiary of Hyatt, Signa and Central Group have entered into a management agreement for the Thompson Vienna, which is part of the MAHÜ 10-18 project.

The hotel has 148 rooms, and it is scheduled to open in late 2024. It is located in the popular shopping district on Vienna’s Mariahilferstrasse famous street. The Thompson Vienna is part of the mixed-use project MAHÜ 10-18: A forward-looking traditional department store is being built there on the site of a former furniture store, which will be operated by the KaDeWe Group. In combination, the department store and hotel offer a multifaceted visitor experience that combines well-known lifestyle brands, a comprehensive culinary offer and a wide range of entertainment choices.

“We are delighted to further expand our collaboration with SIGNA and CENTRAL GROUP with the Thompson Vienna,” said Felicity Black-Roberts, Hyatt’s Vice President Development Europe. “The development is designed to bring together premium shopping, dining, entertainment, fashion and hospitality in one location.”

The architects OMA and interior designers Tara Bernerd & Partners are responsible for the design of the hotel. They are creating a modern and edgy design inspired by the architecture and characteristics of Austria’s famous capital.

“We are delighted to expand our collaboration with Hyatt to include a new hotel for the Vienna city scene,” said Claus Stadler, COO Signa. “Together, we are redefining the interplay between department store and hotel business to create a high-quality lifestyle offering for our guests.”

Thompson Vienna will be the third Hyatt hotel in the Austrian capital, joining Park Hyatt Vienna and Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere.
