Italian outdoor brand La Sportiva opens first store in North America

The outdoor brand’s first store is located at 2100 Broadway in Boulder, Colorado, and offers the entire La Sportiva range, including climbing and running shoes, ski touring equipment and premium clothing.

Jonathan Lantz, President of La Sportiva North America, explained why this location was chosen for the debut store, “Boulder is known for its fantastic climbing, trail running and backcountry skiing opportunities. Furthermore, “This store is meant to be a gathering place for mountain sports enthusiasts where the local community can come together to share their passion, experiences and knowledge about the sports they love.”

La Sportiva’s expansion goal is to integrate the brand in mountain towns worldwide. The brand has been operating since Narciso Delladio founded it in 1928 in Ziano di Fiemme, in the Dolomites. Delladio started out with handmade leather shoes for forest workers and farmers and also registered a patent from this time for the lacing system that is now used by all well-known shoe factories. Today, the company is a leader in the market for mountain running and trekking shoes as well as mountain boots for extreme use, such as Himalayan expeditions, and is sold in around 70 countries.

“As we expand into the US market, we want to draw a throughline back to our history in the Dolomites and connect with communities that share our passion for the outdoors,” said Lorenzo Delladio, President and CEO of La Sportiva in a statement. “Boulder has a rich history in the outdoor space, and its populace shares our views on the importance of environmental responsibility. We believe this is the perfect location for us to connect with our customers on a deeper level.”

La Sportiva products have been handmade for over 90 years in a small mountain village where 140 families live. The family business can look back on decades of experience, which has been passed down from generation to generation and combined with technologies, ideas and innovations to create unique products. Today, the company has a state-of-the-art factory with 250 employees in this small mountain village – the heritage of handmade shoes lives on in this unique alpine valley to create products that allow you to go wherever you want.
