Owner SES, which also operates the shopping center itself, is investing a total of more than 40 million euros in the complete refurbishment of KING CROSS by autumn next year. This will also raise the technical facilities and parking spaces to a new top level. The refurbishment will gradually transform the location into the most modern shopping destination in the country – without interrupting operations. The highlight of the first opening now taking place: in addition to the new anchor tenants Müller Drogerie and fashion retailer Sinsay, the largest and most modern Decathlon in Croatia is also presenting itself as an attractive flagship in the new design.
The comprehensive modernization of KING CROSS Zagreb follows a clear vision: to create a sustainable, innovative and attractive shopping experience for all generations. In addition to the significantly improved store areas and architectural measures, the new concept will also feature a unique gastronomy zone and a central piazza, which will become a new meeting point for Zagreb.
“With the initiated transformation process of KING CROSS, we are setting new standards in the field of customer orientation in Croatia,” says Christoph Andexlinger, CEO SES Spar European Shopping Centers. “Our goal is always to create vibrant living spaces where people enjoy spending time and which offer a special shopping experience. We want to be an integral part of everyday life. Even the part of the mall that we have just renovated makes the new spirit clearly visible. And with this in mind, we will continue the complete renovation of the mall into next year.”
“This opening of the first modernized part is a very important milestone on the way to the complete modernization of KING CROSS,” adds Zoran Karamatić, Country Manager SES Croatia. “Our visitors will already be impressed by the timelessly modern architecture and the new level of facilities.”
New attractive stores and Croatia’s most modern Decathlon
Visitors can look forward to attractive new openings in the modernized area of the mall: Müller Drogerie, Sinsay and Polleo Sport are presenting themselves for the first time in KING CROSS, while soccer specialist R-GOL is opening its very first store in Croatia. A special highlight of the first opening phase is also the store relaunch of the most modern and largest Decathlon in Croatia. The global sports brand now presents itself in KING CROSS with its most innovative store design, which offers customers intuitive navigation and a unique shopping experience. Retailers already established in the center, such as Harvey Norman, JYSK, Pepco and Sport Vision, have also opted for a completely new design. A particular advantage for sports enthusiasts in Croatia: with Decathlon, R-GOL, Sport Vision and Polleo Sport, KING CROSS Zagreb is now home to a wealth of sports expertise in one place.

Convenient shopping with new infrastructure
KING CROSS will continue to offer its visitors maximum convenience during the next renovation phase, which will take place in the near future: In addition to the north entrance, the shopping center is also accessible via a new entrance from the south side, which gives visitors easy access to all stores. Decathlon retains its separate entrance and is now also directly connected to the shopping mall again. There is also plenty of free parking available. More than half of the entire parking area has already been renovated and offers comfortable, wide parking spaces.
Since its opening in 2002, KING CROSS has been an integral part of Zagreb’s shopping landscape. The shopping center has been managed by SES Spar European Shopping Centers since 2018.
