The new retail park is to be realized by the end of 2023 on a site of just under 30,000 sq m on Wassermühlenstrasse. May & Co. had already acquired the site in 2006.
Previously, the Kappeln E-Center has been located on the site. The anchor tenants were the food retailer EDEKA and the garden center hagebau.
The tenant structure in the new retail park has already been decided
EDEKA and hagebau will remain at the site. While the supermarket is renting around 4,900 sq m in the new retail park, the garden center is securing around 6,800 sq m of floor space. Other tenants include the dm drugstore with just under 760 sq m and the Futterhaus pet store, which operates throughout Germany, with around 740 sq m.
Customers of the new retail park will have access to around 400 parking spaces for cars and almost 150 bicycle stands, some of which will be equipped with e-charging stations. May & Co. is aiming for DGNB Gold sustainability certification for the new retail property. The entire roof of the property will be used for a large-scale solar installation.
