The standalone store under the name “Marks & Spencer” will open in the Battersea Power Station mall this autumn. The boutique-style store is expected to employ a smaller footprint compared to the usual size and aim to primarily target younger shoppers in response to an increase in sales among the consumer group.
It will offer styling advice and a smaller range of products for customers who rarely buy food and fashion on the same visit. This trial signals a potential change of strategy, from a shared focus on food retail to a shop selling only fashion and beauty products.
The new strategy underlines the revival in M&S´s orientation towards fashion as its newer collections have come to appeal to a large number of UK consumers.
