New Health Parks To Be Introduced In SES Shopping Malls

At the end of July, Austria’s market-leading shopping center operator SES and Vinzenz Gruppe Service, an expert in health parks, signed a partnership agreement to jointly develop long-term health centers at selected SES shopping locations and thus strengthen regional healthcare provision in the long term.

Vinzenz Gruppe Service GmbH and SES Spar European Shopping Centers GmbH, a SPAR Austria company with 31 shopping destinations in six European countries, are founding the joint venture “TWOmorrow Gesundheit GmbH”. Subject to approval by the antitrust authorities, this new company will operate health parks at selected SES locations in order to expand regional healthcare provision. Both partners each hold a 50% stake in the company.

Since 2015, the Vinzenz Group has been developing and operating service health parks around the hospital locations in which the Vinzenz Group is involved. These health parks are regional networks in which hospitals, doctors in private practice, nursing staff, therapists, pharmacies, rehabilitation and care facilities as well as specialist medical stores provide holistic care and support for people in all matters relating to health and illness.

The SES malls are highly frequented, vibrant living spaces whose offerings often go far beyond retail. In addition to extensive catering and service offerings, the portfolio also includes kindergartens, police stations and a year-round concert and theater stage. In addition, for many years there have been regular collaborations with healthcare facilities in the form of temporary exhibitions and information events.

By founding TWOmorrow Gesundheit GmbH, both shareholders want to pool their expertise and offer the population new opportunities in regional healthcare. Well integrated into the SES shopping malls, the health parks and their partner network will provide the population with competent and holistic care at several locations in future. The aim is to bring a broad and coordinated range of healthcare services to people at a low threshold. A balanced mix of optional, statutory and private services as well as free services such as self-help groups or funded projects will be available.

“We need to establish modern and sustainable healthcare where people spend their everyday lives”, says Dr. Michael Heinisch, CEO of the Vinzenz Group. “The SES shopping malls are such meeting and living spaces where we can provide the population with health and prevention services in a simple and uncomplicated way.”

“Health is our greatest asset and healthcare is one of the most pressing issues in our society,” adds Marcus Wild, SPAR Board Member for Real Estate and Innovation. “As a family business, as a leading Austrian food retailer and also as the largest private employer in our country, the topic of health is also of particular importance to us. The Vinzenz Group is the ideal partner for this.”

“The key success factors of our shopping destinations are not only the strong, highly professional partnerships with our store operators, restaurateurs and service providers, but also the optimal location, perfect accessibility by public transport and the large number of parking spaces at our locations”, explains Christoph Andexlinger, CEO of SES Spar European Shopping Centers GmbH. “This makes it particularly easy for anyone who wants to use the services of the health parks in our malls in the future.”
