Pepco Shows Interest In Acquiring NKD’s Discounter Chain In Germany

With the discounter having recorded continuous losses in the past few years, chain-owner TDR Capital is reportedly considering selling the assets. Now, one of the chain’s major competitors, Pepco, is showing a lot of interest.

NKD only achieved sales of 820 million euros in 2022 and recorded losses ever since. As British investor TDR Capital is now considering a sale, Polish discount giant Pepco is said to be preparing an investment and could launch an acquisition in Germany.

The textile discounter with around 1,300 stores in Germany and 10,000 employees throughout Europe mainly sells clothing, but the range also includes home goods and home textiles. Its biggest competitors include Wollworth, Pepco, KiK and Ernstings Family.

If an acquisition gets the green light, Pepco will be able to greatly increase its reach within Germany, which currently encompasses around 50 stores.
