With plans to open its first store in Slovakia later this year, Hungary will become Primark’s 6th market in CEE and its 17th market globally.
The new Budapest store will offer customers Primark’s unique formula of the latest trends and everyday essentials at great value prices across womenswear, menswear, kidswear, beauty, lifestyle and homeware. The store will also feature a wide selection of licensing ranges, such as NBA and Disney as well as Primark’s growing Primark Cares label, as part of Primark’s ambition to make more sustainable fashion affordable for everyone.
“We are really excited to announce our entry into our 17th market, as part of our ambitious expansion plans. Arena Mall is the perfect location to introduce customers in Hungary to Primark’s amazing fashion and everyday essentials at great value prices, as well as our unique store concept. We’ve had a great reaction to our other stores in the CEE region and we know our customers in Hungary will love what we have to offer,” shared Maciej Podwojski, Head of Sales, CEE at Primark in the official press release.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Primark to Arena Mall, and are delighted that they have chosen us for their market entry,” adds Erna Balla, Asset Manager, NEPI Rockcastle Hungary, who are the owners and operators of Arena Mall. “Primark will be an attractive addition to the Arena fashion offering,” shares Balla in the official press release.
Recently, the fashion retailer has also opened stores in Madrid, Spain, and Turin, Italy. With Budapest, the three new stores, representing an investment of around 30 million euros, will create around 600 new jobs, reveals Stephen Mullen, Retail Director for CEE, Iberia, Italy, and Benelux at Primark, in a recent interview with “Irish Independent”. “There is much more to come from that market – I am very excited about it,” says Mullen on the company´s further expansion.
Primark currently has 416 stores across 15 countries in Europe and the US. Further openings will take place in Italy, Czechia, Romania, Portugal, and Poland this year. By 2026 the company expects to grow its store portfolio to 530 stores globally.
