The smaller, three-sided screen on the left side of the shopping center’s facade, the so-called cube, has a total area of 27 sq m. Above the main entrance, an extensive three-dimensional digital LED surface–called the tower–extends over a total area of 177 sq m. The high resolution allows a razor-sharp display of images and videos.
Kerstin Behm of Union Investment Real Estate says: “This media façade has added a spectacular urban landmark to Wandsbek Markt. The installation not only makes an aesthetic statement, but also enables flexible branding and guaranteed visibility.”
Frank Klüter, Center Manager at Quarree, adds: “Initially, we will use the screens exclusively for the center’s own motifs, but in the long term the media facade will also provide a stage for art and culture from the district. In close cooperation with representatives of the Wandsbek district and the city of Hamburg, we have already organized a number of events.”
Union Investment has invested around €40 million in the redesign of the shopping center. The center has been extensively modernized and restructured. In addition to a completely new themed design, it now offers a new food court, new stores, and more product ranges.
