Scallier: New Brands in Romanian Retail Parks

German non-food retailer, TEDi, and the Austrian chain of sport stores, Hervis, will open their shops in newly emerging retail parks in Romania developed by the Polish company Scallier. In total, the new stores will occupy an area of nearly 5,500 sq m in the facilities located in Timisoara, Vaslui, Mosnita, Turda (TEDi) and in Vaslui and Turda (Hervis).

All the above-mentioned facilities, apart from the park in Mosnita, will be commissioned in 2022. The park in Mosnita is scheduled to be put into service in early 2023. In addition, new shops will be opened by, among others, New Yorker, Flanco, ZOO Center, and Noriel. Advanced talks with other tenants are underway. In Romania, there are already two retail parks built by Scallier, fully commercialized and commissioned in 2021, with a total leasable area of over 11,000 sq m.

TEDi is a retail chain consisting of over 2.670 stores located in 10 European countries and employing approximately 24,000 employees. The company based in Dortmund offers a wide range of products in the categories of decoration, household, stationery, or do-it-yourself items.

”Scallier’s goal is to create an attractive offer for residents who will find a wide commercial offer close to their place of residence, including brands from the following sectors: food, fashion, sports, and electronic products,” says Wojciech Jurga, Managing Partner at Scallier.

“Retail parks developed by Scallier are being built in the vicinity of large-format grocery stores. These real estate offerings complement each other and create commercial locations that are the first choice for local communities when it comes to shopping. The priority effect also has a great impact on the success of our projects. The markets of smaller Romanian cities often lack modern retail space. It forces customers to travel long distances to take advantage of the offer of shops and service points of recognized brands. We fill this gap by providing commercial formats that match the requirements of local markets as much as possible,” says Adrian Aleman, Development Director at Scallier’s Romanian branch.

All projects carried out by Scallier in Romania are certified in the ecological international BREEAM certification system.
